Home invasion – what happens when you are a victim?

I am sure you have never wondered what happens when you are the victim of a home invasion. You see it on the news and think how awful, then you go on with your life.

I haven’t done anything on this blog since September 1, 2018 because 5 days later I WAS the victim of a home invasion.

What is a home invasion?

A home invasion is where you are minding your own business, safely inside your locked house and someone just bursts in, ties you up and steals your stuff.

It is terrifying. You can’t imagine this is really happening to you. What do you do? Do you scream, yell, cry, pray, what????

While I can’t say much because of the legal issues. What I can say is that I chose to pray. I didn’t freak out, instead I chose to ask God to help me. In a few minutes I had the chance to break free, call 911 and get the hell out of the house!

So, to all of you who might have followed this blog or are on the mailing list, that is why I have been so silent. I totally lost interest in many things for a while.

What to do now?

That’s a really good question. I still have my website, Etsy shop and Ebay store.

I still love making jewelry, taking photos and trying to figure out how to make my own income.

But I now have an experience and point of view that I didn’t have before. I think the home invasion happened for a reason. As soon as I am able to freely discuss all that happened to me, maybe I will be able to help other people.

Is it coincidence or God speaking through nature?

Do you believe in coincidence? Does God speak to us through signs and symbols in nature? How does God speak to us?¬†If God is speaking and we don’t listen, how does he get through to us?

I don’t believe in¬†coincidence and think that everything happens for a reason. Over and over our higher power, whom I choose to call God, is constantly trying to communicate through any method available.

Is it a coincidence when animals appear?

Native Americans believe that animal spirits or totems appear in our lives to give us messages, and in my opinion it is God trying to get through because we aren’t listening to his voice.

I recently began trying to walk 10,000 steps a day to counteract the midlife bulge developing around my waist. This puts me out into nature a lot more since my home is tucked into the Central Florida Wetlands.

Last week I nearly stepped on the tail of a huge rattle snake, it never saw me, but seeing the snake had me shaken!! The rattle was the first thing I saw, not a footstep away – eek!!

Then two days later the sunlight was shining at just the right moment for me to see a beautiful spider web in the trees.

I tried looking for the web again the next day, and could not find it. It seemed as though God was shining the light directly at the web at just the right moment for me to see it.

Were these two random sightings connected? Was it odd that after seeing the scary rattle snake I was allowed to see the delicate web?

Does this have meaning?

You might be laughing right now, but I began to think this was no coincidence and that this might have meaning. So I decided to look up the snake and spider and see what their appearance might mean and how it relates to my life.

Here is what I found:

Snake key meanings are transmutation, change and to be reminded to stay connected to the self and my surroundings to continue on the path of growth.

Spider and it’s web¬†is bringing attention to my creativity and asking if I am ignoring my ideas and dreams. Go figure!

My inner spirit has been nagging at me to get back to making rosaries, prayer beads, meaningful jewelry and to practice wire wrapping and wire weaving. I have not been making time for that, and have just pushed those thoughts and ideas aside.

Knowing when God speaks

Was God speaking and I wasn’t listening? Did he use the symbols of his creation to tell me in another way? I believe it’s true: when I ignore my inner Good Orderly Direction (GOD), nature takes over to tell me again!

What are your thoughts on how God speaks to you? Have you had any strange encounters in nature like that? How did you use that experience?

David Bowie: “Fill Your Heart” and you’ll be free

I have always been a David Bowie fan, since the early 1970’s, and I am compelled to share a not so well-known song of his to honor his passing. “Fill Your Heart” on the Hunky Dory album is light, loving and wise.

David Bowie’s Hunky Dory album and I became quite close one fateful night in Virginia a long time ago. Without going into details let me just say that it is forever melded with my soul.

While there really isn’t anything too unique about this blog post, it’s all information you can easily find anywhere online. However I do believe the message in this song is pure and worth pointing out at this¬†time of his death, January 10, 2016.

David Bowie filled the world with his music and talent, but now he is free!

“Fill Your Heart” by David Bowie

Lyrics:

Fill your heart with love today
Don’t play the game of time
Things that happened in the past
Only happened in your Mind
Only in your Mind-Forget your Mind
And you’ll be free-yea’
The writing’s on the wall
Free-yea’. And you can know it all
If you choose. Just remember
Lovers never lose
‘Cause they are Free of thoughts unpure [sic]
And of thoughts unkind
Gentleness clears the soul
Love cleans the mind
And makes it Free.

Happiness is happening
The dragons have been bled
Gentleness is everywhere
Fear’s just in your Head
Only in your Head
Fear is in your Head
Only in your Head
So Forget your Head
And you’ll be free
The writing’s on the wall
Free-yea’. And you can know it all
If you choose. Just remember
Lovers never lose
‘Cause they are free of thoughts unpure
And of thoughts unkind
Gentleness clears the soul
Love cleans the mind
And makes it Free!!

Inspirational words for the hustle and bustle of Christmas

Inspirational words are sometimes all we need to change our thoughts. During this time of year life can be so hectic, people are busy shopping for Christmas gifts, decorating the tree, going to parties, etc. All while still going about the normal routines of life.

The hustle and bustle is double time during the Holiday Season, and sometimes it is hard to find the Joy that was meant to be felt by everyone.

I know that in the past I have personally sought the answers for how not to get lost during the hustle and bustle of the season.

Inspirational words can change your whole perception

I wanted to do one last blog post for this year, but didn’t think I would have time until I read the back of this new¬†Green Girl Studios Pendant that I just received.

snail
Green Girl Studios Snail pendant

This Snail pendant and the inspirational words on the back are a reminder to slow down. Stop, focus and remember these words:

“For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under Heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1

I used to get all twisted up inside and these words of wisdom, along with the image of the snail are a reminder that everything will get done.

Another old saying that we had in the publishing business runs along the same lines:

There’s never enough time to do it right, but there is always time to do it over.

Strength to keep going

This year so much has happened in the world. The TV, radio and social media bring us evidence of so many tragedies, much evil and events that can make you flat-out scared for the future. So where do you find strength?

“Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

I can not tell you how many times this verse has saved me and given me the courage and the strength to continue during times of hardship or sorrow.

As this year comes to a close

I just want to say “Thank You so much” to everyone who has taken the time to read my blog, visited my website or Etsy shop. I thank everyone for their¬†support¬†and wish everyone a joyous Christmas and¬†Happy New Year!

‚ÄúGlory to God in the highest,¬†and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased.‚ÄĚ Luke 2:14

Are you a geek?

Are you a geek or have you been called a geek or a nerd? I decided several years back to embrace the Geek within and accept my inner geekiness. But what is a Geek, really?? Well I looked up the definition.

Embrace the geek within

Geek (noun)¬†\ňągńďk\

1. : a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken or snake
2. : a person often of an intellectual bent who is disliked
3. : an enthusiast or expert especially in a technological field or activity geek

  • I am not a carnival performer, and I have never bit the head off of a chicken or snake, but I did have a snake wrapped around my neck once.
  • In school I always made really good grades, not too sure why, school was just easy. Most people didn’t like me much, but I thought it was because I was always the new kid in school.
  • I am an enthusiast in many types of things and activities: Star Trek, Star Wars, Reading, Halloween, Dexter, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, et cetera.

So I qualify for all three! I have always liked things that most people do not, and have usually become enthusiastic about them, but if you look at that last definition in general… Everyone has some level of Geek inside of them!

How geeky are you?

So I was tweaking this blog post to get better SEO (isn’t that kind of geeky?) and found this cool online test. I scored 23.43173% which is somewhere in between Geek and Total Geek.

Find out your score, take the test: Geek Test: the original test from innergeek

The Urban Dictionary definition

Lastly, I really like the Urban Dictionary’s¬†definition:

The people you pick on in high school and wind up working for as an adult!

Embrace your inner geek and become the boss!

Where were you on September 11 2001?

September 11 2001 is a day that changed everything, not just in the United States of America but in the entire world. The Twin Towers attack on 9-11-2001, followed by the Pentagon and United 93 is something we must NEVER FORGET!

Where were you on September 11 2001?

I was working at Creative Catalog Concepts, a publishing company in Orange City, Florida. I was on the phone with Bobby Susser from New Hope Records, discussing a custom job we were doing for him.

As I sat there on the phone, one of our Graphic Artists went into our “Break Area” and turned on the TV. I could see this from my desk and thought it was unusual since it was so early in the day.

Then several other employees gathered and sounded alarmed so I asked Bobby to hold while I went to see what happened. The first plane, American Airlines Flight 11, had crashed into the North Tower.

I got back on the phone with Bobby and told him what had happened and we ended the call. Then I stood there with the others and we watched in horror as the second plane, United Airlines Flight 175, crashed into the South Tower on live TV. Stunned and shocked we could not believe our eyes, panic was setting in as we knew that this was not an accident.

Shortly after that I called my husband, who works for an airline, and that was when he told me of the unprecedented grounding of all flights in the United States of America!

Then we heard about the other two flights – American Airlines Flight 77 and United 93. The knowledge that this was an attack on the USA was prevalent in our minds and we all could not believe this was happening!!

The rest of the day was spent not doing a whole lot of anything except crying, watching the news and wondering what was next. No one wanted to work, the whole day was surreal and the skies were eerily silent.

Always remember 9/11

I will never forget what happened on September 11th. My heart still aches for those who perished, those who lost loved ones and the brave Americans who dealt with this in their personal lives.

Each story, each thought and memory of the 9/11 attacks will keep those who perished and those who suffered alive in our hearts and minds.

Please share your story and NEVER FORGET September 11 2001!
