4 reasons I have ignored my blog

Somehow the year has just flown by, and I have hardly touched this blog! Do I have a good reason why I haven’t been posting regularly? Not really, but I do have 4 flimsy reasons, and you can use these same excuses for just about anything.

There are many reasons to start writing a blog and there are just as many reasons not to start blogging, or to start one and then ignore it.

One article I read recently focused on getting out to meet other people instead of blogging, which kind of reinforced my recent thoughts about finding local businesses who would carry my Vampire Diaries earrings and bracelet or my handmade rosaries.

That right there would require face to face meetings, and I could probably come up with the same 4 reasons not to solicit!!

4 reasons I have ignored my blog lately

  1. I have an appointment – that is always a good reason! A doctor appointment, an appointment with the BEACH, a dinner date, you name it!
  2. I just don’t feel like it – this is one of my top reasons, and it is associated with number 3
  3. Takes too much time – it really does take a lot of time, no matter how easy everyone says it is! First you have to write, then look up keywords and think of cool ways to illustrate because some people only look at the pictures!
  4. FREE HBO/Cinemax weekend! – that’s right, because watching a new flick is always a good reason not to blog or do anything ūüôā

These 4 reasons are so generic that you can use them for just about anything!!

I do like to share ideas, and new cool beads and I will continue to do that. But somehow this year has just slipped past me. I really just wrote this little article to kind of apologize for not posting much lately.

What are your reasons for not blogging? Are they the same reasons for not beading or not exercising? Or not doing anything?  Comments are welcome!

Tiger bead charms for bracelets

This Sterling Silver Tiger Bead from Carlo Biagi (UPDATE: This bead is sold out and no longer available making it officially extinct!) is the perfect charm for bracelets themed around a sports team, spiritual energies or for animal lovers. The large diameter hole has no threading and it is compatible with many popular bracelets.

Over the years this European charm has been very popular due to its symbolism of this ferocious animal.

Tiger beads and symbolism

The tiger has always been an important symbol, and throughout history you see it’s influence in art, literature, or as a mascot.

Here are just a few interesting facts:

  • The tiger is the largest cat! For those of us who love cats, it is a dream to own such a huge kitty.
  • It is one of the animals in the Chinese Zodiac, the next year of the Tiger is 2022.
  • The Detroit Tigers football team was named after the nickname of the Detroit Light Guard Military Unit
  • There are 9 different sub species: three are extinct and the remaining six are endangered

This popular sterling silver bead is also on my bead “endangered list”. There are only a handful of these beads available and they will not be restocked. (UPDATE: This bead is sold out and no longer available making it officially extinct!)

If you are waiting for just the right time to buy this bead, then NOW would be the time. (When they are all gone, and officially extinct, I will update this page.)

To answer the most asked question – yes they will fit on PANDORA bracelets and are also compatible with Troll, Chamilia, and other trendy charm bead bracelets.

The bead hole is 5mm and is smooth (no threading) making them easy to slip on an off any bracelet chain.

Is it coincidence or God speaking through nature?

Do you believe in coincidence? Does God speak to us through signs and symbols in nature? How does God speak to us?¬†If God is speaking and we don’t listen, how does he get through to us?

I don’t believe in¬†coincidence and think that everything happens for a reason. Over and over our higher power, whom I choose to call God, is constantly trying to communicate through any method available.

Is it a coincidence when animals appear?

Native Americans believe that animal spirits or totems appear in our lives to give us messages, and in my opinion it is God trying to get through because we aren’t listening to his voice.

I recently began trying to walk 10,000 steps a day to counteract the midlife bulge developing around my waist. This puts me out into nature a lot more since my home is tucked into the Central Florida Wetlands.

I nearly stepped on this rattle snakes tail while on my morning walk. (Photo taken by Bead Lovers Korner in Central Florida)

Last week I nearly stepped on the tail of a huge rattle snake, it never saw me, but seeing the snake had me shaken!! The rattle was the first thing I saw, not a footstep away – eek!!

Then two days later the sunlight was shining at just the right moment for me to see a beautiful spider web in the trees.

I tried looking for the web again the next day, and could not find it. It seemed as though God was shining the light directly at the web at just the right moment for me to see it.

Were these two random sightings connected? Was it odd that after seeing the scary rattle snake I was allowed to see the delicate web?

Does this have meaning?

You might be laughing right now, but I began to think this was no coincidence and that this might have meaning. So I decided to look up the snake and spider and see what their appearance might mean and how it relates to my life.

Here is what I found:

Snake key meanings are transmutation, change and to be reminded to stay connected to the self and my surroundings to continue on the path of growth.

Spider and it’s web¬†is bringing attention to my creativity and asking if I am ignoring my ideas and dreams. Go figure!

My inner spirit has been nagging at me to get back to making rosaries, prayer beads, meaningful jewelry and to practice wire wrapping and wire weaving. I have not been making time for that, and have just pushed those thoughts and ideas aside.

Knowing when God speaks

Was God speaking and I wasn’t listening? Did he use the symbols of his creation to tell me in another way? I believe it’s true: when I ignore my inner Good Orderly Direction (GOD), nature takes over to tell me again!

What are your thoughts on how God speaks to you? Have you had any strange encounters in nature like that? How did you use that experience?

Read any good books lately?

I love to read thanks to my parents and their example, do you love to read a good book? I wonder how many still like the feel of a book in their hands and not some electronic device?

Do you read for fun?

My Mom and Dad were always reading for fun and through books I was able to expand my imagination and sometimes escape to magical lands.

We had a large bookcase with many books, including an old Encyclopedia Set – remember those? I did many a school report using those Encyclopedias!

Now you can read books online, purchase ebooks and download them to whatever media device you like, but for me there is just nothing like holding a physical book and turning each page. I can see how much of the book I have read, and how much of the story is left by viewing where the bookmark is located.

Some of my favorites

There are so many great books, and over the years I have gone through many different authors and subjects like:

  • Stephen King Books
  • Science Fictions Books
  • Ghost Stories
  • Spirituality
  • Great Love Stories
  • Mystery Novels

Bookmark your place

I started making beaded bookmarks a few years ago, using art beads and charms that were left over after a project.

These bookmarks or book thongs add a little personality and decoration to books and also mark your place.

Bookmarks also can be a great small gift idea for readers at just about anytime of the year. My Mom loved them and became my best customer! In todays electronic age they are a unique gift and perfect for:

  • Gifts for children
  • Friends at work or church
  • A small thank you to someone who has helped you out
  • Stocking Stuffer ideas
  • and many more…..
Do you still read books?

I would love to know how many people still love to read books. What are your favorite types of books to read and how do you keep your place?  Leave a comment and let me know!
