Is it coincidence or God speaking through nature?

Do you believe in coincidence? Does God speak to us through signs and symbols in nature? How does God speak to us? If God is speaking and we don’t listen, how does he get through to us?

I don’t believe in coincidence and think that everything happens for a reason. Over and over our higher power, whom I choose to call God, is constantly trying to communicate through any method available.

Is it a coincidence when animals appear?

Native Americans believe that animal spirits or totems appear in our lives to give us messages, and in my opinion it is God trying to get through because we aren’t listening to his voice.

I recently began trying to walk 10,000 steps a day to counteract the midlife bulge developing around my waist. This puts me out into nature a lot more since my home is tucked into the Central Florida Wetlands.

Last week I nearly stepped on the tail of a huge rattle snake, it never saw me, but seeing the snake had me shaken!! The rattle was the first thing I saw, not a footstep away – eek!!

Then two days later the sunlight was shining at just the right moment for me to see a beautiful spider web in the trees.

I tried looking for the web again the next day, and could not find it. It seemed as though God was shining the light directly at the web at just the right moment for me to see it.

Were these two random sightings connected? Was it odd that after seeing the scary rattle snake I was allowed to see the delicate web?

Does this have meaning?

You might be laughing right now, but I began to think this was no coincidence and that this might have meaning. So I decided to look up the snake and spider and see what their appearance might mean and how it relates to my life.

Here is what I found:

Snake key meanings are transmutation, change and to be reminded to stay connected to the self and my surroundings to continue on the path of growth.

Spider and it’s web is bringing attention to my creativity and asking if I am ignoring my ideas and dreams. Go figure!

My inner spirit has been nagging at me to get back to making rosaries, prayer beads, meaningful jewelry and to practice wire wrapping and wire weaving. I have not been making time for that, and have just pushed those thoughts and ideas aside.

Knowing when God speaks

Was God speaking and I wasn’t listening? Did he use the symbols of his creation to tell me in another way? I believe it’s true: when I ignore my inner Good Orderly Direction (GOD), nature takes over to tell me again!

What are your thoughts on how God speaks to you? Have you had any strange encounters in nature like that? How did you use that experience?

Inspirational words for the hustle and bustle of Christmas

Inspirational words are sometimes all we need to change our thoughts. During this time of year life can be so hectic, people are busy shopping for Christmas gifts, decorating the tree, going to parties, etc. All while still going about the normal routines of life.

The hustle and bustle is double time during the Holiday Season, and sometimes it is hard to find the Joy that was meant to be felt by everyone.

I know that in the past I have personally sought the answers for how not to get lost during the hustle and bustle of the season.

Inspirational words can change your whole perception

I wanted to do one last blog post for this year, but didn’t think I would have time until I read the back of this new Green Girl Studios Pendant that I just received.

This Snail pendant and the inspirational words on the back are a reminder to slow down. Stop, focus and remember these words:

“For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under Heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1

I used to get all twisted up inside and these words of wisdom, along with the image of the snail are a reminder that everything will get done.

Another old saying that we had in the publishing business runs along the same lines:

There’s never enough time to do it right, but there is always time to do it over.

Strength to keep going

This year so much has happened in the world. The TV, radio and social media bring us evidence of so many tragedies, much evil and events that can make you flat-out scared for the future. So where do you find strength?

“Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

I can not tell you how many times this verse has saved me and given me the courage and the strength to continue during times of hardship or sorrow.

As this year comes to a close

I just want to say “Thank You so much” to everyone who has taken the time to read my blog, visited my website or Etsy shop. I thank everyone for their support and wish everyone a joyous Christmas and Happy New Year!

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased.” Luke 2:14

Angels Guard Thee – inspiration for handcrafted jewelry

This Angels Guard Thee pebble bead by Green Girl Studios made me curious. A Google search for the phrase “Angels Guard Thee” lead to this inspiring music that moved me to tears.

What beauty unfolds in the imagination from this melody and verse!! I hope this inspires you to design and create a meaningful piece of handcrafted jewelry.

I am not sure what caused Green Girl Studios to create this little bead, but I am thankful that it lead me to experience this moving music.

This lullaby (berceuse) comes from the 1888 Opera “Jocelyn” by Benjamin Goddard and is sung by Kenneth McKellar.

Angels Guard Thee

Beneath the quivering leaves, where shelter comes at last,
All sadness sinks to rest, or glides into the past.
Her sweet eyes prismed now in their soft silken bowers,
Oh my love, calm she sleeps beneath the trembling stars.

Awake not yet from thy repose,
A fair dream spirit hovers near thee,
Weaving a web of gold and rose,
Through dreamland’s happy isles to bear thee.
Sleep, love, it is not yet the dawn,
Angels guard thee, sweet love, till morn.

Far from the noisy throng, by song birds lulled to rest,
Where rock the branches high by breezes soft caressed;
Softly the days go on, by sorrow all unharmed,
Thus may life be to thee a sweet existence charmed.

Awake not yet from thy repose,
A fair dream spirit hovers near thee,
Weaving a web of gold and rose,
Through dreamland’s happy isles to bear thee.
Sleep, love, it is not yet the dawn,
Angels guard thee, sweet love, till morn.

My calling: making prayer beads and rosaries

It is time to tell this story, believe it or not, about my calling: making Prayer Beads and Rosaries. I truly believe I was called to make Prayer Beads and Rosaries and perhaps others have experienced this same calling. Those who have been called may be able to relate to parts of this story.

Saved from addiction

Many years ago I began a spiritual relationship with God when He saved me from addiction to drugs and alcohol.

I had been raised in the Protestant Church, so I had basic religious instruction, but it didn’t really mean anything to me until I began my recovery and had a specific spiritual experience.

Once I was on the sober path I began opening my mind to seeking and finding out more about God’s purpose for me, learning to ask for direction, and how to listen for His instruction.

This was a very personal relationship that I didn’t share with too many people, I just went about my life in recovery and was blessed to have a renewed interest from childhood in beads and beading as a replacement for my destructive obsessions.

The calling to make prayer beads

Being of an entrepreneurial mindset AND obsessive, I began buying and selling beads and jewelry findings, and also making jewelry to wear and share with family and friends. This became a little side business and pretty successful.

I had a website and an eBay store that provided additional income. I was looking at my website one day and thought:

“what else could I add to my current selections?”

Then out of nowhere a voice in my head quietly and firmly said:

“Prayer Beads”

What a great idea!! But I really knew nothing about Prayer Beads, since they were not used in the churches where I grew up. So I started to learn and educate myself by looking up the different types of prayer beads and how to make them.

Making Prayer Beads and Rosaries

It took me several years to put this divine idea into action, and even though I still sell beads, and make other types of jewelry, making Rosaries and Christian jewelry pieces are my constant and consistent thoughts.

I would like to say that every set of beads I make are inspired, and maybe in some way they are, but all are meticulously created and infused with my loving intentions.

Listening to God

I have done much reading and have acquired spiritual knowledge of all kinds from different faiths, and know that God (no matter what name you call Him) is constantly “streaming” out love, guidance and direction to everyone. We have to be tuned to the right “frequency” so to speak, to receive and accept these heavenly “transmissions”.

There is so much “chatter” in our world that blocks out this communication from God, but learning to pray and focus the mind on Him is a good way to start listening.

Prayer and Rosary Beads are a physical and beautiful tool to use for prayer. A reminder of this important way to communicate with and worship our Heavenly Father.

I am sure that I am not alone in this calling, if you also feel like you have been called I hope you will leave a comment below.
